SUMMARY:***CANCELLED | new date in fall term 2025 tba***Working Lunch with
 Lorenza Mondada
DESCRIPTION:The talk offers a glimpse on a project that studies a diversity
of investigative practices of a forensic laboratory specialised in the re
construction and reidentification of human remains of disappeared politica
l activists in Brazil. In this talk we illustrate our video methodology an
d analysis by addressing the issue of how the multi-disciplinary practices
of the forensic experts deal with (and shape) multiple bone ontologies: t
he bones constituting a case are approached within very different perspect
ives\, while aiming at coordinating them within a coherent description\, b
ased on a coherent set of scientific\, historical and legal evidences.\\r\
\nLorenza Mondada [https://www.lorenzamondada.net/] is Professor of Lingui
stics at the University of Basel. Her research deals with social interacti
on in ordinary\, professional and institutional settings\, within an ethno
methodological and conversation analytic perspective. Her research focuses

ws on a diversity of multimodal resources such as\, beside language\, gest
 ure\, gaze\, body posture\, movements\, objects manipulations as well as m
ultisensorial practices such as touching\, tasting\, smelling and seeing.
