Situated at the intersection of scholarship, teaching, and public, the Institute for European Global Studies aims to contribute to an academically well-founded culture of communication.
In its regional embeddedness in Basel and the tri-border region, the Institute acknowledges a special obligation to approach transboundary processes. The analysis of negotiations of Switzerland's relations with Europe and beyond is on different levels of significant relevance to this globally entangled country. In the context of its thematic focus "Basel–Switzerland– Europe–Global," the Institute for European Global Studies organizes a variety of public events to discuss the complex challenges of the 21st century.
