Prof. Dr. Ralph Weber gave a talk at the international conference "Humanism, Posthumanism and Transhumanism in the East Asian Past and Present" at the University of Ljubljana. He spoke on the topic "Can East Asian Humanisms Be Global? - Conditions of Possibility, Pitfalls and Prospects". The conference was organised by the Department of Asian Studies of the University of Ljubljana and the European Association for Chinese Philosophy (EACP) and took place from 19 to 21 May 2023.

In his lecture, Ralph Weber explored the tensions of looking for Asian models of humanism, posthumanism and transhumanism in an effort to save humanism from an obnoxious form of Eurocentrism. For example, he addressed questions such as, "Does cultural conditionality constitute the only condition of the possibility of reconciling positionality and globality?"

Prof. Dr. Ralph Weber is Associate Professor of European Global Studies at the Institute for European Global Studies. He specializes in Political Theory, Chinese Politics, and modern Confucianism. Currently, he is the President of the European Association for Chinese Philosophy and the Chair of the Section on Political Theory in the Swiss Political Science Association.
