Lerato Posholi Presents Paper at the 8th European Conference on African Studies
“Africa: Connections and Disruptions” was the topic of the 8th European Conference of African Studies. Lerato Posholi was among the speakers of Europe’s largest international conference focusing on Africa, which took place from June 11-14, 2019, at the University of Edinburgh.
In her talk, Lerato Posholi explored ways to rethink the relationship between knowledge and power in higher education. The South African call for decolonizing the curriculum and universities more broadly has brought about a renewed interest in the question of the relationship between knowledge and power.
The 8th European Conference of African Studies took place from June 11-14, 2019, at the University of Edinburgh’s Centre of African Studies. The conference brought together 1,400 researchers, policymakers, and leaders from across the world. Europe’s largest and most international conference with an African focus is regularly organized on behalf of the Research Network of African Studies Centres in Europe (AEGIS).
Lerato Posholi is currently an International Fellow at the Institute for European Global Studies. The research of the PhD-candidate from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg focuses on curriculum studies, philosophy of education, epistemology and sociology of knowledge. She is working on a dissertation that sets out to explore the entanglements of knowledge and power and their implications for the curriculum.
