Madeleine Herren gave Inaugural Lecture

On Tuesday, October 15, Prof. Dr. Madaleine Herren-Oesch held her inaugural lecture on the topic of “Globales Europa: Geschichte als Prozess komplexer Verflechtungen”.

The lecture was presented at the Museum of Natural History. Since April 2013, Prof. Dr. Herren-Oesch serves as the director of the Institute of Global European Studies as well as full professor of Modern History at the University of Basel.

The Institute for European Global Studies is a research institute subordinated to the rector’s office at the University of Basel. As an interdisciplinary institution, it continues established traditions of approaching the processes of European integration in teaching and research as well as developing new concepts and methods in the framework of European Global Studies to reveal Europe’s global entanglements in society, law and economy.
