“The Arctic: Building Connecting Power from Mussolini to the Polar Silkroad” is the title of a talk Prof. Madeleine Herren-Oesch will present at the “International Collaboration” Workshop on “Polar Histories” in Tasmania. The workshop is organized by the College of Arts, Law and Education at the University of Tasmania in partnership with the Laureate Research Program in International History. The event takes place on July 20, 2018, in the Tasmanian capital Hobart, Australia.

Madeleine Herren-Oesch is Professor of Modern History and the Director of the Institute for European Global Studies. While her fields of expertise cover 19th and 20th century history, her historiographical approach examines history through its strong connections to the contemporary world in its multilayered, global dimensions.
