Benedict Vischer is a research fellow in constitutional, administrative and international law at the University of Zurich and an associated researcher at the Institute for European Global Studies Basel and at the Centre Marc Bloch in Berlin. He studied Philosophy, Theology and Law in Basel, Berlin, St. Gallen, Zurich and at Yale Law School and obtained a doctorate in legal philosophy from the Humboldt University Berlin. He has worked as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, the Centre Marc Bloch and the University of St. Gallen. He was a member of the Cluster of Excellence "Normative Orders" at the Goethe University Frankfurt, an affiliated researcher at the Law & Society Institute Berlin and a fellow of the re:constitution program. He has completed research stays and teaching appointments in Rio de Janeiro, New Haven, Budapest and Lausanne.

Benedict Vischer works mainly in the fields of legal philosophy and international public law. He is particularly interested in Europe’s constitutional developments and the structuring role of pluralism in the constitution of Europe.
