Associated researcher

Mark-Anthony Schwestermann studied law at the University of Basel. In his doctoral thesis, which was supported by the SNSF, he addressed the question of how age discrimination, particularly against older people, can be combated with regard to employment relationships under civil law. To this end, he first analyzed the phenomenon of “ageism” and its causes. He then developed an anti-discrimination model based on his findings that provides for prohibitions on discrimination as well as prevention and inclusion measures. Using this model, he analyzed Swiss anti-discrimination law and compared parts of it with corresponding EU law. On the basis of this analysis, he formulated various legal measures.

Mark-Anthony Schwestermann works as a lawyer in a renowned commercial law firm in Zurich and advises and represents clients primarily in the field of labor law.
