From September to December 2019, Dr. Konstantin Zamyain visits the Institute for European Global Studies as an International Fellow. In Basel, the researcher from the University of Turku (Finland) will work on completing a monograph on language policies in the Finno-Ugric republics of post-Soviet Russia. Dr. Konstantin Zamyatin is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Turku, Finland. Dr. Zamyatin holds a law degree and did his PhD in Finno-Ugrian Studies at the University of Helsinki. His PhD thesis was about the official status of minority languages, based on the empirical case of Russia’s Finno-Ugric republics.
Konstantin Zamyatin’s current research interests are ethnic politics and language politics in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union. He currently works on completing a monograph tentatively entitled "Language Policies in the Finno-Ugric Republics of Post-Soviet Russia: Revisiting Revivalism".
