Colloquium on Voluntary Work and Ethical Citizenship

On April 23, 2014, at 12.30pm, Prof. Andrea Muehlebach spoke about "Voluntary work and the emergence of ethical citizenship: A case study on elderly care in Northern Italy".

Andrea Muehlebach is Assistant Professor at the Department of Anthropology at the University of Toronto, Canada. Her research focuses on the interesection of economic, political, and ethical life. Therefore, she explores the rise of voluntarism in social service provisioning in the Northern Italian region of Lombardy, and will continue to pursue it in a new project on the European “commons” movement in Italy, Germany, and France.

During the spring semester 2014, the Institute for European Global Studies organizes the colloquium series on the topic of “Global Aging”. During those interdisciplinary research colloquia, scholars of the Institute and other institutions present their research to the scientific community. The colloquia take place on a Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at the seminar room of the institute.
