Salon Discussion with Prof. Atsushi Shibasaki

For the forthcoming salon-discussion, the Institute for European Global Studies is pleased to announce the participation of Prof. Atsushi Shibasaki from Komazawa University in Tokyo. The event will take place on 29 February 2024, from 2 pm to 3.30 pm at the Institute for European Global Studies salon. Prof. Atsushi Shibasaki was a visiting professor at the institute from 2017 to 2018. His research focuses on the history of modern Japan and international and global relations. He will present his recent research and new book "Thought and Behaviour on the Idea of Global Relations – Towards a Study into the World full of ‘Encounters with the Unknown’".

Atsushi Shibasaki is a professor at the Faculty of Global Media Studies and Dean of the Graduate School of Global Media at Komazawa University in Tokyo. From April 2017 to September 2018, he was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for European Global Studies. In his research, he is particularly interested in the historical development of international cultural relations and politics in modern Japan, philosophical debates on the creation of global and international consciousness in modern Japan, and the theoretical analysis of the historical development of international relations theory.
