The Institute for European Global Studies encourages student exchange and supports the international cooperation and networking of its researchers, for instance with its Visiting-Fellow-Program. It participates in the University of Basel’s international strategy and the opportunities offered in this context.
The Institute’s strategic focus on European Global Studies attracts interest in the international scientific community, especially among Asian and African universities. The Institute for European Global Studies has systematically approached institutions that follow similar interests in their research and teaching, and has started to establish contacts with them.
In addition, the EIB constantly expands its international research cooperation in the field of digital humanities, especially with universities in Germany, France and Great Britain.

Heidelberg Center for Transcultural Studies
The Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) is a central institute of Heidelberg University. It assembles outstanding scholars from all over the world and from any discipline to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with a focus on the dynamics of global transcultural processes. With the Institute for European Global Studies, the HCTS maintains close and long-term relations regarding the cooperation in research (for instance in Digital Humanities) and in the exchange of students.

Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA)
The Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA) at the O.P. Jindal Global University was inaugurated in 2010 and offers inter-disciplinary, internationally oriented study programs. The JSIA is home to several research centres on topics such as international relations, international law, and international business. The Institute for European Global Studies and the JSIA cooperate in the fields of academic and student exchange.

Tsinghua University School of Law
The Tsinghua University School of Law is part of Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of the top higher learning institutions in mainland China. Since its founding in 1920, the School has progressed to become a leading institute in legal education and research in China. The Tsinghua University School of Law has a cooperation agreement with the University of Basel’s Faculty of Law, including the Institute for European Global Studies.
Al Akhawayan University
Al Akhawayn is a public University in Ifrane, Morocco. The University’s research and teaching is focused on the social sciences and humanities and is conducted in English, with its curricula based on the American system. The Institute for European Global Studies cooperates with Al Akhawayn in research and the student exchange program.

The Center for African Studies BASEL (CSAB) coordinates African-related research, teaching and events at the University of Basel in cooperation with partners outside the University. The CSAB and the Institute for European Global Studies cooperate in teaching and several research fields.

Since its foundation in 1943, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute has become a renowned institution for teaching, research and services in the field of international health. It entertains cooperation in research with the Institute for European Global Studies.
International Committee of the Red Cross
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is one of the few original non-governmental subjects of Public International Law. With the University of Basel it entertains an agreement to strengthen scientific cooperation, especially with regard to archival work.
Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland
The Dodis research center is the independent center of excellence for studies in the history of Swiss foreign policy and international relations after the establishing of the Swiss Confederation in 1848. On its online database Dodis, the research center offers access to a large selection of key sources in the history of Swiss foreign relations. Dodis is an associate of the SNSF-Project «A Global History of Swiss Diplomacy» (www.swissdiplo.ch) which is located at the Institute for European Global Studies.
School of Public and International Affairs
The School of Public and International Affairs offers two master’s programs. On the one hand, it provides a Master of Arts in Diplomacy and International Affairs, with a regional focus on European Studies. On the other hand, the school offers an evening program of a master in Public Policy. The ADA University emphasizes a balance of global, regional and national perspectives. Students of the Institute for European Global Studies have the opportunity to study abroad at the ADA School of Public and International Affairs.

The University of Leipzig is one of the oldest German Universities with a continuous teaching tradition since 1409. The GESI was founded in 2008 as a part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy, aiming at teaching and research at the crossroads of several disciplines. Students of the Institute for European and Global Studies may plan their stay at the University of Leipzig.

Founded in 1364, the Jagiellonian University in Kraków is Poland’s oldest university and one of the oldest universities in Europe. Students of the Institute for European Global Studies can spend their exchange semester at the Centre for European Studies and choose courses from five programmes offered in English. The programmes in Basel and Kraków are similar in focus and content: both rely on European Studies in a global perspective.
