Graduation Ceremony of the Institute for European Global Studies
On October 18, this year's graduates at the Institute for European Global Studies were awarded their diplomas. Several students received additional awards for outstanding achievements. Yves Mettler (Urban Art Intervention & European Narratives) held a keynote speech.
The graduates received their diplomas in the festive setting of the ”Alte Aula” of the Natural History Museum. Jonas Bischoff, Chatrina Hain and Sarah Maria Herrendorff won awards offered by UBS for their excellent master theses. The Basel Cantonal Bank Prize for the best GPA went to Julian Brunner, who finished his MA ”summa cum laude”. Brunner, who currently is an intern at the Embassy of Switzerland in Madrid, received the award in absentia.
The keynote speech was held by Yves Mettler (Urban Art Intervention & European Narratives, Berlin), who spoke on the topic ”Where is Europe happening? Report from a City Trip”. Prof. Dr. Madeleine Herren-Oesch also gave remarks.
The Master's program in European Global Studies stands out for its comprehensive approach to the study of European societies. It combines methods and theories of law, economics, history and the social sciences to examine Europe in its global context, especially in its relationships to Africa and Asia.
