Teresa Pullano and Christa Tobler as Experts on Greek Debt Crisis

Christa Tobler and Teresa Pullano, both professors at the Institute for European Global Studies of the University of Basel, contributed their expertise to different media in Switzerland and Italy, where they evaluated the latest developments in the Greek debt crisis. Teresa Pullano, Assistant Professor of European Global Studies, explained on the TV-program “10vor10” of June 29, 2015, why she regards the Greek Premier Alexis Tsipras’ referendum as another means of exerting pressure on the European Union. In addition, she contributed an article on the current situation in Greece to the Italian daily newspaper il manifesto from July 8, 2015.

Christa Tobler, Professor of European Law, spoke on the current affairs program “Tagesschau am Mittag” of June 30, 2015, about the legal possibilities of a Greek exclusion from the eurozone.

About the Experts:
Teresa Pullano is Assistant Professor of European Global Studies at the Institute for European Global Studies of the University of Basel. She is a specialist in the field of European citizenship and European integration, currently working on the impact of EU law on the social and political restructuring of statehood at the continental level. Her research interests furthermore include critical theory, political theory, political philosophy, political sociology, European politics, nationalism and state formation, critical social theory, as well as social epistemology.

Christa Tobler is Professor of European Law at the Institute for European Global Studies of the University of Basel and the University of Leiden (Netherlands). She has published articles on a variety of topics within EU law. However, she is mainly interested in issues regarding equaling rights, in business law as well as social law. Her habilitation dealt with the development of the legal concept of discrimination within EU law and Swiss law, respectively. Furthermore, Prof. Tobler conducts research on EU integration techniques, e.g. regarding its relations with third countries, and hence on bilateral law.
