Certificate of Advanced Studies in European Integration

European Integration is a new Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) offered by the Institute for European Global Studies. The subject is one of five modules of the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in European and Global Governance. Interested university graduates as well as professionals can apply until July 31, 2014.

The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in European Integration familiarizes students with the legal, political and economic basics of the European integration. This includes the legal foundations of the European Union (EU), the politico‐economic and macro‐economic pillars of the EU, as well as the institutional architecture of the political bodies of the EU. The CAS in European Integration consists of ten courses covering topics such as “The Legal Foundations of the EU”, “Economics of European Integration” and “Institutional Architecture of the EU”.

In total, the Institute for European Global Studies offers five Certificates of Advanced Studies (CAS) in European Integration, Multinational Corporations, International Organizations, Global Society, and Europe 2050. In the autumn and spring terms 2014/15, the CAS in European Integration and Global Society will be provided, followed by the other modules. All courses are taught in English language by renowned scholars and professionals. They can be completed extra-occupationally depending on one’s needs and capacities. Usually, the courses take place on Fridays and Saturdays. Interested persons can enroll in one module only and acquire a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). Students completing all five modules and deepening their expertise in a Master thesis are awarded the title Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in European and Global Governance.

Required is a university degree on a Master’s level and a high command of spoken and written English. Applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree should have several years of work experience in politics, administration or in the business sector. The tuition fee is SFR 5.900 for each module. The fee includes the participation in the courses, the expenses for exams and learning materials. Deadline for application is July 31. The program starts on September 19.
