Lerato Posholi, postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for European Global Studies, has been elected to join the Swiss Young Academy (SYA). The SYA membership is given to excellent young researchers for a five-year term and comes with funds to carry out individual or joint projects.

Lerato Posholi is one of five new members who were chosen for their "research, experience of inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation and their motivation to work at the interface of science, society and politics", the SYA said in a press release. Almost 50 candidates had applied this year. Posholi's membership in the SYA starts on June 10, 2022.

The Swiss Young Academy is part of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. It provides young researchers the opportunity to carry out inter- and transdisciplinary projects and activities at the many intersections of science and society. The Young Academy gives voice to young academics in Switzerland and serves as a networking platform to bring together individuals from many different scientific fields and institutions of higher education. In addition, it creates an inspiring setting for innovative ideas and projects.

Lerato Posholi is an SNSF Fellow in the project "Reversing the Gaze: Towards Post-Comparative Area Studies" at the Institute for European Global Studies. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Her research interests include social epistemology, decolonial theory and curriculum studies.
