Global Governance & Forced Migration: Working Lunch with Alfredo dos Santos Soares

Dr. Alfredo dos Santos Soares (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa) was the speaker at our Working Lunch on April 12, 2017. He addressed possible implications of global governance and forced migration for the European Union. The Working Lunch took place at 12.15pm at the Institute for European Global Studies.

Alfredo dos Santos Soares is a postdoctoral researcher, currently affiliated with the Center for Research and Development on Law and Society (CEDIS) at the Faculty of Law of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. He is mostly concerned with the legal and socio-political aspects of the migratory phenomenon, especially the "responsibility to protect" forcibly uprooted people in contexts of armed conflicts, climate change impacts, and large-scale development projects.

At the Institute for European Global Studies, Alfredo dos Santos Soares aims to advance the study of global governance of forced migration and its possible implications for the European Union.

The Working Lunches are a regular event at the Institute for European Global Studies. They serve as a platform of communication between the researchers of the institute, visiting scholars and associated members.
