Comment by Sagar Naidu and Sriparna Pathak on the China-India Border Dispute

Sagar Naidu, doctoral student at the Institute for European Global Studies, co-authored an article with Sriparna Pathak, Professor of China Studies at O.P. Jindal Global University, on the border dispute between India and China. The commentary was published on the online platform Firstpost on 11 July 2025.

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Qingdao, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged China’s Admiral Dong Jun to seek a “permanent solution” to their border dispute. Despite claims of disengagement, China continues its military activities in the region. The authors warn that these activities echo China’s tactics from the 1950s and call for India to remain vigilant.

Sagar Naidu is a doctoral student at the Institute for European Global Studies. His research interests range from Chinese politics and foreign policy to India’s foreign and national security policy. His dissertation examines the "impact of internal stability on China’s dispute behaviour".

Prof Sriparna Pathak is a Professor of China Studies, and the founding Director of the Centre for Northeast Asian Studies at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), Haryana,India. Her research focus in on Foreign Policy of China as well as on theories of International Relations.
