Public Lecture: «Opportunities and Challenges of the Free Trade Agreement between the EFTA states and India»

Public lecture by Prof. Niti Bhasin, University of Delhi, India.

Introduction and discussion by Prof. Rolf Weder.

Niti Bhasin's talk will focus on the implications of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between EFTA states and India for mutual market access in different industries, intellectual property rights (IPR), and some aspects such as environmental and labour market issues. The Indian perspective to the agreement will be central to the presentation. In her talk, Niti Bhasin will also draw on her research on understanding the economic effects of free trade agreements and present her preliminary conclusions regarding the potential effects of TEPA. Opportunities and challenges will be jointly discussed towards the end of the event.

The talk will be followed by a reception.

Niti Bhasin is currently a visiting professor at the University of Basel, supported by the SNF Scientific Exchange program, and will be collaborating with Prof. Rolf Weder and his team at the Center of International Economics and Business (CIEB). Niti Bhasin is also a professor at the Department of Commerce at the Delhi School of Economics (University of Delhi). She is an author and speaker with a strong background in international business and Indian economy.
