The world of science is looking for ways to regulate research collaboration with non-democratic countries. In a recent article by «Horizons Magazine», Ralph Weber proposes to establish a national competence center, as researchers need to be well aware of the current situation in authoritarian countries like Russia, China, or Iran to be able to make informed decisions. The article was published on 21 February 2023.

Horizons is a magazine focusing on scientific research in Switzerland. It reports on the latest developments in science and discusses research policy issues of global importance. Horizons is published by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences.

Ralph Weber is Associate Professor of European Global Studies at the Institute for European Global Studies. He specializes in Political Theory, Chinese Politics, and modern Confucianism. Currently, he is the President of the European Association for Chinese Philosophy and the Chair of the Section on Political Theory in the Swiss Political Science Association.
