New Publications by Ralph Weber
Several works on Chinese philosophy in its global context by Prof. Ralph Weber have recently been published. Prof. Weber is Assistant Professor at the Institute for European Global Studies.
Prof. Weber's articles and book contributions in 2015 spanned a range of topics in Chinese philosophy. In "Confucian Political Philosophy for Non-Confucians", he discusses how Confucianism can accommodate pluralism in political thought. The article was published in "Frontiers of Philosophy in China". The role of tradition in Confucianism are in the focus of "Representing Tradition: An Analysis of Tu Weiming's Confucianism" (International Communication of Chinese Culture). Contributing to Richard King's "The Good Life and Conceptions of Life in Early China and Græco-Roman Antiquity", Prof. Weber writes about "Comparing Ancient Chinese and Greek Ethics". The current Confucian revival in China is the topic of another book contribution that is part of "Contemporary East Asia and the Confucian Revival" by Nataša Visočnik and Jana Rošker. Prof. Weber also reviewed "A Global Conceptual History of Asia, 1860–1940" by Hagen Schulz-Forberg for the journal "Contributions to the History of Concepts". In 2014 already, the article "Controversy over 'Jullien': or where and what is China, philosophically speaking?" was published in the "Journal of Chinese Philosophy".
Prof. Ralph Weber is Assistant Professor for European Global Studies at the Institute for European Global Studies. His main research areas are: Methodological and conceptual aspects of multilingual and transcultural research, comparative philosophy, Chinese political philosophy, Chinese politics, and Confucianism.
