Ralph Weber published a paper titled "Between Utopianism and Political Realism: Liu Xiaobo, Political Confucians, and the CCP" in the book "Sinophone Utopias: Exploring Futures Beyond the China Dream". The volume was edited by Andrea Riemenschnitter, Jessica Imbach, and Justyna Jaguscik and published by Cambria Press in March 2023.

Ralph Weber´s contribution to the book was included in the second section on values and traditions. In his paper, he examines the role of utopianism and narratives in the political structure of China. The book provides a summary of transcultural and interdisciplinary perspectives, analyzing contributions from artists and writers across the Sinophone world who participate in the creation of utopian concepts, narratives, and state futurology in China.

Ralph Weber is Associate Professor of European Global Studies at the Institute for European Global Studies. He specializes in Political Theory, Chinese Politics, and modern Confucianism. Currently, he is the President of the European Association for Chinese Philosophy and the Chair of the Section on Political Theory in the Swiss Political Science Association.
