Corey Ross gave a presentation on "Water, Empire, and Political Ecology" at the University of Konstanz. His talk was part of the workshop "Political Ecology: Workshop on Environmental Humanities" which took place from 14-15 September.

The workshop was associated with the research project on Political Ecology coordinated by Dr. Sven Reichardt at the University of Konstanz. The invited guest speakers discussed political ecology as a field that critically interrogates the nature–society relations, particularly looking at the power relations that intersect and affect the access to natural resources, in order to reveal disparities and injustices in the distribution of costs and benefits.

Corey Ross is Director of the Institute and Professor for European Global Studies. His expertise focuses on the history of imperialism and global environmental history in the 19th and 20th centuries. His research on the socio-environmental history of Europe’s relations with the rest of the world builds on interdisciplinarity, investigates the global, transimperial and transnational circulation of ideas, goods and people, and aims to highlight perspectives that are relevant to major present-day and future challenges.
