Event on U.S. Antitrust Policy in Basel
The implications of U.S. antitrust policy for foreign business will be discussed at a talk and panel discussion at the University of Basel. The event titled ”The Long Arm of U.S. Antitrust: Implications for Swiss Managers” will be chaired by Prof. Rolf Weder, Professor of International Trade and European Integration at the Institute for European Global Studies. It takes place on October 25, 6.15 pm, at the Kollegienhaus.
The event will show which forms of cooperation among firms are considered to be a criminal act by the U.S. authorities and can lead to imprisonment. Firstly, Dr. Russell Pittman will give a presentation on the topic. He provides his views as the Director of Economic Research and Director of International Technical Assistance at the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. Panel discussants are Dr. Kuno Sommer, Chairman of the Board of small and medium-sized international Swiss companies, and John Mayo, Professor of Economics, Business and Public Policy at Georgetown University. Prof. Rolf Weder will lead through the event.

Rolf Weder is Professor of International Trade and European Integration at the Institute for European Global Studies. His teaching and research focus on the consequences of the increasing global and regional integration of markets for goods, services, and factors of production.
