Lerato Posholi presents at PSSA Annual Conference
Lerato Posholi presented a paper titled “Conceptualizing Epistemic Appropriation” at the annual conference of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa (PSSA) hosted by the North-West University. In contrast to current accounts that focus on epistemic appropriation as a form of epistemic injustice, the paper draws from postcolonial scholarship to propose a ‘positive’ account of epistemic appropriation that can contribute to overcoming forms of epistemic injustice. The conference took place from 21-24 January 2025 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Lerato Posholi is an SNSF Fellow in the project "Reversing the Gaze: Towards Post-Comparative Area Studies" at the Institute for European Global Studies. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Her research interests include social epistemology, decolonial theory and curriculum studies.
