The 2016 US Elections and the Future of Transatlantic Relations

The Institute for European Global Studies has hosted an event on this year's elections' impacts on transatlantic relations on November 8. Prof. Dr. Stephanie Anderson, political scientist and currently visiting fellow at the institute, discussed the issue. The event took place at 6.15 pm in the Auditorium. It was chaired by Prof. Dr. Madeleine Herren-Oesch.

The event was titled "The 2016 US Elections: The Future of Transatlantic Relations". What does the result of the US Presidential and Senate Elections mean for Europeans and their relations with the US? This was assessed by Prof. Dr. Anderson.

Prof. Dr. Stephanie Anderson is an Associate Professor for Political Science at the University of Wyoming. She has studied at Georgetown University and at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She holds a PhD from Cambridge University. Her research focus is on: The European Union as an international actor, international relations and security studies. Currently, she is a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for European Global Studies, where she works on her project "When Narratives Collide: How news coverage and social media in EU crisis management missions affect the EU's identity at home and abroad".

Prof. Dr. Madeleine Herren-Oesch is Director of the Institute for European Global Studies, University of Basel. She has written extensively on European history and global history of the 19th and 20th centuries. Within the history of Europe, her work has focused on European expansion, imperialism, and integration.
