Katekisama Doctorate

Many PhD projects conduct research on aspects of globality, but few do so through a global research setting. The challenges of the 21st century require a generation of young researchers trained to critically explore and analyze today's global realities. Through the Katekisama PhD, the participating universities offer a unique opportunity for transnational and interdisciplinary PhD training. By bringing together the academic excellence of three leading sites of interdisciplinary and research-oriented higher education, PhD students benefit from the intellectually stimulating atmosphere created by the institutional intersection of the three universities: Basel (Switzerland), Bonn (Germany), and Waseda University, Tokyo (Japan). The activities of the Katekisama Program enable doctoral students to pursue their doctoral studies as part of an international and globally connected student body. As members of the Katekisama Program, theyenjoy privileged access to the research structures, archives and expertise of three leading universities, enabling them to write their doctoral dissertations under excellent and truly global conditions.

The first badge of Katekisama doctoral students will take up their research in 2021.
